I have just received this report of a new “Chat-Jacking” scam link appearing in Facebook Chat featuring the picture of a girl with the message:
[random girl’s name here] Need help please.. 🙂 can you please click “Click Here” in her profile.. Thanks!
Chat-Jacking is another form of Click-Jacking similar to Like-Jacking, but it tricks Facebook Chat’s users into clicking links that spread the scam and/or spreads viruses, trojans and other malware.
Why you should Avoid it:
Clicking the scam link will first take you to the fake profile page of a beautiful “Estella Gillespie” below:
Then Facebook Users are encouraged/tricked into helping her win $20 for getting the most clicks in a fake “most-clicks-contest”. Obviously clicking the button labelled “CLICK HERE” will infect your machine with a virus SO DONT DO IT!
These bogus chat messages appear in the Facebook Chat window via “Fake Applications” which have already found their way into your friends accounts (or your own account!). Beware of links sent via Facebook Chat.
