Facebook WARNING: Avoid the “Check Your Top 10 Friends Who’s Viewing Your Profile With Profile Spy, Profile Viewer and Profiliviewer 2012” SCAM

Above is yet another variant of the “Who’s Your Top Profile Viewer” scam, this time labelled the “Facebook Profile Visitor” and posted to the Facebook News Feed via Visitor, the rogue app. You should be avoiding such posts like the plague, report them as spam if you have the time and inform your affected friend to clean out the fake post. Watch out! Another successful fake Facebook Application scam is making a comeback and catching quite a lot of people out, by preying on our natural instincts of curiosity and paranoia. Profile Spy, also called Profile Viewer and Profiliviewer 2012, claims to show you who are the Top 10 Friends viewing your Facebook Profile! Now, I would be interested in that too just like you and every other Facebooker, but sadly it just isn’t possible at the moment…maybe later. If you instal this fake app, you will give it powerfull permissions to your private data and your friends’ data too…You also allow it to make wall posts into the Facebook News Feed on your behalf!

Every single application making such claims is a scam about phishing your personal information, fake surveys and spreading malware. Absolutely none of them has ever worked, but more and more people keep on trying them out. Next thing they know, the fake App is posting adverts on your Wall Post to all your friends’ News Feed promoting itself and making it look as if you recommend it! This particular fake App also creates an album, which you should delete immediately, called >>PROFILEVIEWER<< with one image described as “MY TOP 10 VIEWER” similar to the one below:

Your friends will see a Wall Post from you in their News Feed claiming that you are recommending this scam Application. Obviously this is a very effective way of spreading this scam to more people on the facebook network and can quickly trick millions of people. If you see such a Wall Post as the one below, please avoid it and inform your affected Friend that they should take steps to clean up their infected profile:

Facebook does not provide the ability to track who is viewing your profile, or parts of your profile, such as your photos. Applications by outside developers cannot provide this functionality, either. Applications that claim to give you this ability will be removed from Facebook for violating policy. You can report applications that provide untrustworthy experiences by clicking the “Report Application” at the bottom of the application’s About page, or by clicking “Report” at the bottom of any canvas page within the application.
