Removal of facebook’s scam links goes beyond just deleting the offending Wall Post from your Facebook Profile. Make sure you remove yourself from any fake Events List and remove any fake “Like” from the “Liked Pages List” too. If you submitted any telephone numbers to a Survey Scam then you must contact your phone service provider immediately and inform them to stop any bogus charges. If you downloaded any files, games or software then you need to run a complete system scan using updated anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-malware software (…you do have those, dont you?).
Anyway, read on for the quick steps to clean up your Facebook Account below:
1. Remove Fake Facebook EVENTS
You need to cancel your Reservation for the fake event by going to the Events section as shown below. Then please notify your friends not to accept any fake event invitations they may get via yourself:
2. Remove Fake Facebook APPLICATIONS
Remove any Fake Apps from your list of allowed Facebook Applications, as shown below, by going to:
- Account
- Privacy Settings
- Applications and Websites
3. Remove Fake Facebook “Like” From Your WALL
- Navigate to your profile wall by clicking the “Profile” link at the top of your facebook home page.
- Scroll down your profile wall till you locate the “Like”, then click on the little “X” at the top right corner of the message.
- Select “Remove And Unlike” from the menu and the fake “Like “will be removed.
4. Remove Fake Facebook “Like” From Your “Liked Pages List”
Sometimes the fake “Like” remains in your “Liked Pages List”. This list is located in your profile info area, in the “Activities and Interests” section, under the “Show Other Pages” link. The problem seems to happen even after following the directions listed above. If this happens to you please follow these direction as well.
- Navigate to your profile wall by clicking the “Profile” link at the top of your facebook home page.
- Once on your profile page click “Info” right below your profile picture, then Scroll down to the heading “Activities and Interests” and click the “Edit” link to the right.
- At the bottom of the Edit Activities and Interests page click the “Show Other Pages” link.
- The “Other Pages You Like” Dialog Box will open and from there you can scroll through your list of liked pages and remove the ones you don’t want by clicking the “Remove Page” Button.
