Over 50 mobile Apps listed below from Google’s Android Market are infected by a sophisticated malware called DroidDream which steals personal data and can give an attacker full control of the phone by first discovering the unique IMEI and IMSI numbers, then downloading a Rootkit which gives Admin Rights to a hacker.

Needless to say, this is very dangerous because the infected phone can be used to send spam texts or to make premium rate calls, and the owner would never know until the huge bill arrives! It could also steal your contacts list and online login information.

Google’s Android Market is not as strict as Apple’s App Store is when vetting applications from developers, so my recommendation is to do a bit of research before installing Android Apps.

Traditionally, mobile phones did not require Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware or Firewall software protection but my advice is to get them on your SmartPhone if you think it has anything valuable on it. Android users can use a brilliant App called LookOut, which not only protects from malware but also enables you to locate, lock or erase a lost phone remotely!

Names list of infected Android Market Apps:

Falling Down
Super Guitar Solo
Super History Eraser
Photo Editor
Super Ringtone Maker
Super Sex Positions
Hot Sexy Videos
Chess
Falldown
Hilton Sex Sound
Screaming Sexy Japanese Girls
Falling Ball Dodge
Scientific Calculator

Advanced Currency Converter
App Uninstaller
PewPew
Funny Paint
Spider Man
Bowling Time
Advanced Barcode Scanner
Supre Bluetooth Transfer
Task Killer Pro
Music Box
Sexy Girls: Japanese
Sexy Legs
Advanced File Manager
Magic Strobe Light
Panzer Panic

Advanced App to SD

Finger Race
Piano
Bubble Shoot
Advanced Sound Manager
Magic Hypnotic Spiral
Funny Face
Color Blindness Test

Android phones are very popular and shipped more handsets than Nokia in the last quater of 2010 and nearly double the iPhones. But Google needs to act fast not to loose user confidence because security and privacy are a top priority for most SmartPhone owners.

I had the Scientific Calculator and am worried my details might be compromised already. Seriously Google needs to vet the Apps better. Anyway thanks for this!

I think its only inevitable that they will roll out some form of vetting process, for the sake of their smartphone business. After all, Apps are the real deal-clincher when it comes to portables at the moment!
